Mile 136 — For the one that almost was
For all who struggle. This Survivor’s Mile is dedicated to

“On January 24, 2024, I almost became one of the 135 daily statistics. This mile is a promise: hope is real, stories can change, and every step we take is for those we’ve lost—and those still here.”
Mile 136 is different. It’s not a memorial; it’s a marker of hope. It stands for the moments when the darkness feels final—and for the people who choose to stay. If you’re struggling, your story isn’t over. You matter. You are not alone.
Michael and I met when we were teenagers and I knew the moment I met him that he was the love of my life. He’s such an all around wonderful person and would do anything for anyone. Our daughter Ashlyn is a perfect mix of both of us. She’s smart and funny like her dad and looks and acts like me so he gets a double dose of attitude. By the grace of God, with many prayers, lots of hard work, and honest communication Michael is still with us today.
Michael has struggled with mental health for many years but on January 21, 2024 he was the closest he’d ever been to loosing his fight to suicide. I knew he had so much more to offer this world, he just couldn’t see past the pain as he was in his darkest moments. Thanks to the good Lord above we were able to face these dark times together. Ashlyn and I are so proud of how far you have come and I know your mom would be proud also. Thank you for all you do to raise awareness for all of those who struggle. You are an awesome husband, father, and friend. Ashlyn and I love and need you more than you’ll ever know!
I’m honored to walk on May 28, 2026 for the ladies who have lost their fight to suicide. I’m also overwhelmingly grateful to walk the “mile of hope” for my best friend and husband of 33 years. Please know that if you are facing dark times, there are always brighter days ahead and you are worth the work. I thank God that Michael is still here and I thank God each of you are still here as well. My prayers are with all of you that have lost loved ones and for those who continue to struggle. I can’t imagine your pain and the strength it takes to face every moment of every day. We are always here for you! Thanks for trusting us to carry on your loved one’s memories. We love you all ❤️
