Local Pizzeria Supports Hurricane Relief Efforts with Generous Donation
Simpsonville, SC — December 30, 2024
The Slice, a beloved local pizzeria in Simpsonville, SC, has demonstrated its commitment to community and compassion by hosting a highly successful hurricane relief fundraiser. The proceeds from the event have been donated to Help After Disaster, Inc. (HAD), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing hot meals to survivors, volunteers, and first responders during disasters.
Mike Baldassarra, owner of The Slice, spearheaded the fundraiser to support HAD’s mission. The funds raised will be amplified by a matching donor initiative currently active through January 2025. This remarkable partnership will significantly impact the organization’s efforts to expand its capabilities, including the production of a state-of-the-art 50’ mobile kitchen.
“We are incredibly grateful to Mike Baldassarra and the team at The Slice for their generous support,” said Michael Z. Johnson, Founder and CEO of Help After Disaster, Inc. “This donation, matched dollar-for-dollar by our generous donor, will help us take a major step forward in bringing our mobile kitchen project to life, ensuring we can serve even more communities in times of crisis.”
The 50’ mobile kitchen, a cornerstone of HAD’s future operations, will enable the organization to prepare thousands of meals daily in disaster-stricken areas. This addition to their resources aligns with HAD’s unwavering commitment to being a beacon of hope and sustenance during the most challenging times.
Mike Baldassarra expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to make a difference, saying, “At The Slice, we believe in giving back to the community that has supported us for so many years. Partnering with Help After Disaster was a natural fit, and we’re thrilled that our fundraiser will have double the impact thanks to the matching donor.”
Help After Disaster, Inc. was founded in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene to provide immediate and practical relief to disaster-affected communities. Since then, the organization has grown into a trusted name in disaster response, known for its dedication, resilience, and compassion.
