“My brother Shane was my best friend. He was the kindest, goofiest, most compassionate soul. He loved rap music, golf, baseball, and nascar races. His family was the center of his world, and no one was ever a stranger. His kindness, unconditional love for others, and quiet strength stay with me all of my days. ”

He fought a long battle against depression and mental illness. His story ended too soon, and I will continue to tell it in hopes that somewhere a sister will keep her brother, and a mother will keep her son.

Shane’s story has shaped the course of my life. In the 15th year since his passing, I have begun training to run in next years event.
